Renewable Energy Long Island and Students for Climate Action hosted a virtual webinar with Amanda Lefton, Commissioner of the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, to discuss Kathy Hochul’s 2026 Environmental Agenda.

Commissioner Lefton provided an overview of key priorities outlined in the State of the State and Executive Budget, highlighting New York’s continued investments in clean energy, climate resilience, and environmental protection—while keeping affordability front and center.

The conversation emphasized that climate action and affordability go hand in hand, with policies designed to lower long-term costs, strengthen infrastructure, and expand access to clean energy.

For Long Island and communities across the state, these initiatives are critical to building a more resilient, equitable, and sustainable future.
