Ashley Hunt-Martorano, Citizens’ Climate Lobby’s Director of Marketing & Events, will lead an interactive workshop Saturday, March 21 in Amagansett, NY about climate change and how we can address this challenge with a national revenue-neutral carbon fee and dividend.
Citizens’ Climate Lobby (CCL) is a non-partisan grassroots non-profit organization, with over 225 chapters across the U.S. and Canada. CCL is dedicated to creating the political will for a livable world through effective national policies to address climate change and empowering individuals to make breakthroughs in exercising their personal and political power.
The group is working to build support for a carbon fee and dividend that returns revenue to households, creating a market-based incentive to make the transition from fossil fuels to clean energy.
“A number of conservative economists – Art Laffer, Greg Mankiw – support this market-based solution. It’s the kind of solution – an alternative to regulations – that might appeal to Republicans and we will not be able to pass meaningful and impactful climate legislation without bi-partisan support,” said Hunt-Martorano. “It’s important that we have advocates in the Hamptons to give Members of Congress the support they need to move forward with effective climate legislation.”
Such legislation would also ease the transition to renewable energy to help state and local governments, such as the Town of East Hampton, meet their own renewable energy targets.
