Save on Home Energy Upgrades Before Federal Tax Credits Expire

Homeowners Can Save Big on Energy Upgrades Before 2025 Deadline

Now is the time for New Yorkers to make their homes more comfortable, efficient, and affordable to power. Federal tax credits for home energy upgrades are available through December 31, 2025, and can be combined with New York State incentives to maximize savings.

The incentives cover a wide range of projects—from insulation and window replacements to heat pumps, water heaters, and solar panels—helping homeowners cut energy costs while reducing their carbon footprint.

According to the U.S. Department of Energy, homeowners can receive up to 30% off project costs through federal tax credits, while state programs offer additional rebates, tax credits, and low-interest financing.

Energy efficiency upgrades such as insulation and windows are eligible for both programs, with state incentives ranging from $1,000 to $4,000. For heating and cooling, technologies like cold-climate heat pumps and geothermal systems qualify for thousands in combined savings—up to $9,000 for some installations.

Homeowners looking to invest in clean electricity, including solar, wind, and battery storage, can also receive a 30% federal credit and a New York State tax credit worth 25% of project costs (up to $5,000).

These incentives are part of a broader effort to help New Yorkers lower energy bills, improve comfort, and transition to cleaner, more resilient energy systems.
