Sun Day 2025 Brings Community Together for Renewable Energy!

On September 21st, communities across the country came together for Sun Day, a national day of action to celebrate the power of clean energy. Across the U.S., people showcased solar installations, electric homes, and vehicles running on clean power. By organizing thousands of events, Sun Day is helping accelerate the ongoing clean energy movement!

Here on Long Island, Renewable Energy Long Island, United Way and more joined the celebration by hosting Sun Day 2025. The event brought together over 100 community members, families, students, and advocates for an afternoon of learning, connection, and inspiration.

Attendees explored renewable energy resources, learned about solar and offshore wind, and got hands-on information about how clean power can benefit their homes and communities. Partner organizations—including New York League of Conservation Voters, Drive Electric LI, Students for Climate Action—shared expertise on topics ranging from energy efficiency to electrification. The event also created space for conversations about how we can ensure Long Island’s clean energy transition is equitable, affordable, and accessible to all residents.

Sun Day 2025 wasn’t just about technology—it was about people. By gathering together, we were reminded that our transition to clean energy depends on collective action, local leadership, and strong community voices.
